Sign Language Club Week 2

We had a great time in SLC today where we started by learning how to tell people how we feel. We learnt ‘happy’, ‘sad’, ‘angry’, ‘excited’ and ‘I’m fine, thank you’. The children are picking up other signs along the way but our main focuses today were the letters f, g, h, i and j and animals that began with each letter (frog, gorilla, horse, insect and jellyfish):

Remember – if you would like to know any signs for next week, write a comment and let me know!

Keep practising 🙂

Our first signs

This week in Sign Language Club, we learnt how to fingerspell the first 5 letters of the alphabet:

We also learnt 5 food signs that begin with each of these letters:

We then learnt how to say whether we liked or disliked those foods!

See if you can have a go at home!

Welcome to our blog!

I am very excited as this Tuesday is going to be our first session of Sign Language Club! This will be running in the 2CF classroom from 3:20-4:00pm and our group has 20 members – all ready to learn some signing.

I have known Deaf people most of my life and before I became a teacher, I worked for a Deaf charity. I am also qualified in Level 2 British Sign Language and can’t wait to share some things that I have learnt with the group.
Sign Language is a method of communication used by Deaf and Hard of Hearing People and is a fantastic skill for everyone to learn – you never know when you might need it!

Keep checking our blog to see what we have been up to 🙂
